Margaret Court Performance Tennis has originated because of a big need to have all facets of what makes a great tennis player in the one place.
It is the brainchild of Phil Shanahan, Mark Shanahan (left below), Nanette Latta (center) and Clive Murphy (right).
Phil Shanahan
Phil is the Director of the Margaret Court Tennis Academy based in Albury, NSW, Australia. He is the nephew of tennis legend Margaret Court.
Phil has been a tennis coach since 1980 and has an impressive record. He has coached players who have won:
- 5 Australian Singles titles
- 14 Australian Doubles titles
- 3 ITF Singles titles
- 6 ITF Doubles titles
- He has also had:
- 1 Runner Up in Junior Wimbledon Doubles
His players have gained Australian selection 15 times.
He was the Junior coach of Sam Groth – who has the worlds fastest serve and has represented Australia in Davis Cup.
Phil has also received a number of awards for his service to tennis, including:
- 2000 Australian Sports Medal
- 2012 NSW PSSA Service Award for Tennis
- 2015 Tennis Victoria Award
- 2016 OAM (Order of Australia Medal)
Phil has a wealth of tennis knowledge and is one of the most sort after coaches in Australia.
Mark Shanahan
Mark is a Director at the Margaret Court Tennis Academy and son of Phil Shanahan.
Having spent 10 years on the Professional Circuit as a player and a coach, Mark has a wealth of experience, and knows what it takes to become an elite player.
He has had a career high Australian Singles Ranking of 26.
Mark coached Australia's Matthew Ebden from 2011 through to the end of 2014. During this time Mark helped Matthew achieve a career high Men's ATP Singles Ranking of 61 in the world and Doubles Ranking of 57. Throughout the time Mark coached Matthew they were successful in the following tournaments:

- 2012 Atlanta BB&T Open Mens Doubles Winner (ATP 250)
- 2013 Australian Open Mixed Doubles Champion (Grand Slam)

Mark has a passion in coaching footwork, movement and technique, and will guide you through step by step on how perfecting these essential elements will improve your game.
Nanette Latta
Nanette is Managing Director of the “Australian Sports Science Clinic”. She is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Sports Scientist and High Performance Coach. Currently she works as a High Performance Coach with elite athletes in many different sports including tennis and has worked with the following professional and non-professional sporting organizations:
- International Rugby Academy (Rugby Union)
- Queensland Academy of Sports
- Newcastle Knights and North Queensland Cowboys (NRL – National Rugby League)
- Newcastle Jets (A League Soccer)
- Hunter Jaegers (Australian Netball League)
- North Queensland Crocodiles (NBL – National Basketball League)

- North East & Border Academy of Sport
Nanette has a passion for functional and efficient movement. Her exercise prescription provides functional movement patterns that align with the physical requirement of an individual’s sport. Once the athlete moves effectively, there is progression into exercises to improve strength, power, speed and agility.
Nanette has years of experience in athletic performance, with herself having been an elite athlete. She understands the importance of and athlete’s physical and psychological preparation, as well as educating them on all aspects of being successful in their sport.
Nanette provides education on physical preparation, movement efficiency, injury prevention, injury management and nutrition.
Clive Murphy
Clive has his own business and is the Mental Coach of the Margaret Court Tennis Academy.
For the past 29 years he has been working in private practice with people in both consultations and in groups helping them to overcome many of life’s challenges – like depression, anxiety and fear. He has built up a wealth of knowledge of what works and what doesn’t in the real world.
Clive is the author of four books – one being a Best Seller. He specialises in self-esteem, confidence, dealing with stress and feeling motivated. Many have written testimonials to say his concept on self-esteem is one of the worlds best.
While Clive has seven qualifications (including NLP, Kinesiology and Psychotherapy), he lists the most important as the one from the University of Life, School of Hard Knocks.
He has worked with many sporting teams and individuals – including an Olympian, an AFL Club and Victorian Elite Gymnasts.
Clive’s passion is helping people achieve their potential. He will be covering the mental side of tennis – how to get your thinking right so you produce your best performance.
